Bhahara Fair :
This fair is held in village Bharara near Kumharsain and people of all castes and creed participate. The fair is held on the 1st of Jaistha(May), It is being celebrated from ancient times. Devta Koteshwar is brought in the fair and goats are sacrificed in its honour as a mark of respect. The fair is cultural and recreational and 'Natti' dances are performed. People also enjoy 'Hindola' ride.

[Himachal GK] Historical Facts of Shimla - British Era

The name of Shimla [Simla] from 'Shyamalaya' meaning blue house said to be the name of house built of blue slate by a faqir on Jakhu. According to one version Shimla takes it name from 'Shamla' meaning a blue female another name for Goddess Kali. The place was on the Jakhu Hillside, there was a temple of Goddess Kali. During the British period the image of the Goddess was shifted to a new place ,now famous Kali Bari Temple.

Simla Deputation :

In 1906 a group of Muslim landed magnates and chieftains organized a deputation of Lord Minto, the Viceroy, at Simla and pleaded for a few concession to the Muslim community of India.

The Simla Deputation, the meeting came to be called, was a pre-arranged affair. And it is said that the Deputation that waited upon Lord Minto was actually a British move.
