[Discussion] HPAS Prelims 2016 Exam Discussion and Cut off related Doubts Discussion

I am receiving a hell a lot of messages regarding HPAS 2016 Prelims Cut off marks on Facebook, in mail and here on the blog. Most of the queries are that whether one should prepare for mains or not. Many are guessing the cut off and many are not sure in categories that what will be their chances to qualify. I know there is lot of confusion among aspirants and plus some wrong or doubtful answers in official answer keys have made aspirants anxious, so I will suggest you guys to keep some patience.
HPPSC will genuinely consider the facts of wrong answers, Whatever Questions/Answers you feel are wrong or doubtful please send objections from some good sources in Printed format/Hard copy. You can send multiple sources that will make your case stronger. Once you have objected in any of the questions they have to reconsider the options and possibilities. In other words once question is objected they will look into the matter definitely and the right decision will be taken. They will choose the best suitable answers or even can scrap if found ambiguous in nature. So don't worry about the doubtful or wrong answer in keys.

Apart from that According to the Various Parameters and Poll it is clear that Cut off will be almost similar to previous year. This year exam was easier than previous year but more factual in nature. When exam comes easy aspirants try to attempt more question for various reasons and in the process over attempts and factual nature of questions helps in negative marks. So I am having a rough idea here about the cut offs so that many doubtful guys can take a decision regarding Mains preparations.


For General/Unreserved Category : Total Posts = 18 + 1 = 19

For Mains 20 x 19 = 380 Candidates for Mains ( 01 Post of DEO was added later, 1 was removed)

So if we consider the Polls and other Parameters


Scenario Now :

There are almost 210 candidates above 100 Marks.

Lets consider that 250 candidates above 100 Marks. ( lets consider some guys don't use Internet 5%, Some don't reveal 1%, Some toppers hardly cares about cut off 5 %, Lets consider some guys faked their score 4-5 % and some more 5 % extra = total 20 % 210 = 40-45 ) Finally = 210 + 40 /45 = 250 candidates

Now There are 100 candidates between 100 - 96 Marks.
Lets consider that maximum 150 candidates between 100 - 96 Marks.

These are scenarios before Revised Keys.


After Revised Keys Scenario :

The scenario after revised keys will not change dramatically. Because Some will gain marks upto 4-8 and many may loose 2-4 depending upon the objections accepted.

But the fact that remains is that these guys above 100 score will not affect that much.
Marks will affect those who are between 96 and 100. Either they will drop below 96 or will cross 100 and many other less than 96 guys may come into the list.

So finally 250 Guys are above 100 marks.

150 will be between 96-100 marks. Total = 250+150 = 400 candidates

So the bottom line is that those between 95-100 seems to have chance to go through but scenario will be more clearer after revised keys.


OBC Category : Total Posts = 2

For Mains 20 x 2 = 40 Candidates for Mains

Many of the OBC candidates will be fighting in the Unreserved categories so its almost same battle like in unreserved category.

Cut off for OBC will be somewhere 85-92 Marks. 


SC Category : Total Posts = 3

For Mains 20 x 3 = 60 Candidates for Mains

Cut off for SC will be somewhere 75-82 Marks.ST Category : There is No reserved Post for ST this year so they have to fight with All Unreserved candidates.


Ex. Service Men : Total Posts = 4

For Mains 20 x 4 = 80 Candidates for Mains ( I even suspect f there will be 80 guys : D)

This is a Golden year for ExMen. Two HPAS posts are for them.

Cut off for Ex. Servicemen Will be 66 marks because they Just have to qualify prelims simply there are 80 spots for the mains. So any Ex men who thinks can get above 66 marks will be writing mains. So no need to ask anyone anything, Mains ki tyari kro.


Ex. Service Men PWD. Total Post = 1

For Mains 20 x 1 = 20 Candidates for Mains

All those who appeared and getting qualifying above 66 marks will be writing mains.


Physical Handicap (General) : Total Posts = 1

For Mains 20 x 1 = 20 Candidates for Mains

All those who appeared and getting qualifying above 66 marks will be writing mains.


So I think doubts of most of the aspirants will be cleared now, Wait for revised Answer keys and then genuinely compare your scores and then prepare and plan accordingly. I will not be replying individually to anyone regarding about cut offs etc things because these are not predictable so accurately that I can tell each individual. I have put possible scenarios so it is now up to you to decide and to apply your brain and plan ahead.
