I'm 100% sure cutoff this time is above 200 so he wasn't anywhere close to that.. Rather Helios guy predicted 198 which can be considered close enough.. Otherwise I really appreciate the hardwork Khadubhai is doing for all of us this site provides a lot of insight regarding this exam..

    2. Exactly there are many who are not qualified and are around 195-200 marks. I think they revised keys and thus the fortune changed. But there is no transparency in the whole process. I will go one step further saying that some questions were out of syllabus and irrelevant questions and even answers in answer keys were incorrect. So HPPSC is targeting aspirants. It will be a great move to move to the court. And this is the only option left. Her fer to HPPSC ki nas nas mai hai, you can see that in previous years interview marks.

    1. Dude, they will ask for final result of your graduation, make sure you will get your provisional degree before time prescribed. And yes..Sanskrit is good, but without help of a shastri(college level professor),you can't complete Sanskrit. It is impossible without help of other person that you would do Sanskrit.

      Delete
    2. Sanskrit is bit difficult if U don't have a good base in Sanskrit in such short time. Sociology, Anthropology, Geology, Philosophy, Agriculture are good choices. If you are good in Geography you can opt.

In Subjective nature of exams you have to answer in specific word limit with systematic way of writing in precise and comprehensive manner.

And I could not find the booklist for Philosophy optional in your studyplan section. I have covered philosophy as per the UPSC syllabus, but it seems HPPSC haven't revised their optional syllabi. SO it will be great if you could share the Philosophy booklist.

And if there is anyone else preparing for philosophy optional, kindly help.

    1. I have some more questions on how to attempt Mains paper(may be you can write an article on this):
      a) if its like that one has to 'FILL 7 pages' for each question, how one is supposed to answer conceptual/discrete questions of optional (like Philosophy, psychology), simply put, what matters more in the answer: quality or quantity?
      b) Role of handwriting?
      TY

      Delete
    2. Well Word limit is a little tricky when not mentioned in questions.

      1) For a 5-6 Marks Questions one must answer in a word limit of 250-350 words.
      2) For a 8-10 marks Questions one must answer in a word limit of 600-800 words.
      3) For a 15-20 marks Questions one must answer in a word limit of 1000-1400 words.
      4) For a 30 marks Questions one must answer in a word limit of 1600-2000 words.

Well it's not a specific limit. You can write according to yourself but I have given a ideal range of word limits. Another thing that matter is if question is in parts then you have to write more and u can write bigger answers so avoid this approach because it will harm you and u will be not able to complete the paper on time. So stick to word limit. Try to write each question of equal word limit.

Another Good approach is that count the total no of Pages in Answer Sheets e.g. = 40 Pages and then dived by Total no of questions i.e. = 5.
So you can maximum allot 8 Pages for One answer. But for a Single Question (With no Parts) this is huge. But for Questions with parts, 8 pages are sufficient and don't write more than that. But this theory has one drawback that you may be after only quantity So don't do it, Quality is the King, So try to write quality answers with proper systematic approach. Do draw Diagrams wherever possible.

I will write More Quality Questions than Quantity within ideal word limit with a proper systematic approach without any irrelevant stuff. So stick to a word limit with quality answers.

      Delete
    3. Good handwriting is always a big advantage.

      Delete
    4. In its model question paper for new pattern HPPSC has defined a maximum word limit of 500 words for a 20 marker question so by that measure a 30 marker question should not exceed 750 words. All the best!

  39. Wow in 30 marker question, 1600-2000 words(or 8 pages) would be like writing an essay for that topic. Not sure if this can be done qualitatively for most of the topics.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 1600-2000 words is almost 3 and half pages if page is shorter then 4 pages or 4 and half pages. 3-4 Pages is not a big deal but the obvious challenge is to write quality answers. And its obvious that you can't maintain best quality in all the answers. So one have to keep in the mind that try to write quality answers within a word limit and keeping the time constraint in the mind as well.

    2. Writing 2k words for 30 marks means 10k words in whole paper which is humanly not possible even 8k in not possible
In general for a paper of 3 hours word limit is 4-4.5 k and at max 5k

    1. I can't do anything except increasing awareness. Do a collective effort. All Guys Get together, share your contact details and file a case as soon as possible. High Court is the only option. HPPSC is not going to do anything, they are done with prelims.

    2. Wait for RTI information regarding written and interviews marks in allied 2015...like in HAS exam u will again see the capability of HPPSC...corrupted commission it is

  56. I am really disappointed the way all the exam process has gone so far. I had high hopes from HPPSC when I made up my mind for HAS. I thought there would be honest process. But now I must say, I have totally opposite views. It is a matter of shame on part of the commission. They are taking advantage of their position. I am going to raise the question in the HP High Court after UPSC Prelims.

They are just playing like the Caribbean umpire Steve Bucknor. Doing everything on their discretion. Nonsense, utter nonsense. They should first go and get basic school level coaching and get their facts corrected.
Simply playing with the future of hundreds of aspirants is not their job. Rather, they should ensure a fair and transparent selection process.

If any member of HPPSC is having a look at my comment, I would simply request him to consider their wrong doings. At the end it is the prestige of your commission that matters to you. Do not ruin it yourself.

The matter needs to be addressed. There is no point in conducting exams with questions to which even the commission has no clarity of thought.

    1. Hi this amendment has been done for quite some time now! And this is totally relevant to this year.
It will be great if some senior player or Khadubhai himself could shed light on when this was amended because I see that some of the questions asked in previous years(2011-2012 in HPPSC website) find no mention in this syllabus(philo optional), so it will be great if anyone can tell when the syllabus was canged. It will be awesome if someone can share old syllabus so that comparative analysis can be done

    1. Did tens of invigilator shouting not to write anything on paper and express instructions written on the sheet did not impact you at all???
Dont think about what would happen..concentrate on ur optionals.

One more things u dis this in all the papers or just GS?

  78. I had read all the instructions, but on that next page to pink sheet ,instructions were also there ,in Hindi yhan pe apna roll no.centre ka naam likhein, and I asked invigilator about it when I wrote it he said koi ni.Later a mam from hppsc came and said it is sufficient to write only on pink sheet.so I was tension free that time and did nt bother to ask other invigilator. But later some people said they had nt filled other sheet. So ,it created panic .

    ReplyDelete
  79. Few other candidates have also done that. There is no worry as said by invigilators as per their discussion with hppsc officials.
