60.
Answer: (D) Polycarbonates

Explanation:  Polycarbonates are the polymer widely used in making bullet proof material. Bullet proof glass is made by layering a polycarbonate material between pieces of ordinary glass in a process called lamination. A bullet fired will pierce the outside layer of the glass, but the layered polycarbonate glass material is able to absorb the bullet's energy and stop it. Polycarbonate panels are used for covering advertising posters, construction of office buildings for sound proofing and polycarbonate is also used for making bullet proof jackets.

61. (D) Refraction, diffraction and transmission
Explanation: The reason CDs reflect rainbow colors is because they have a clear plastic coating on top of a mirrorized surface. Light refracts (bends) when it moves from one medium (such as air) to another with a different optical density (such as the clear plastic surface of a CD). Different wave lengths of light (every color has a different wave length) travel at different speeds, so that full spectrum appears when white light passes from the air through the plastic surface of a CD, separated light rays which are then reflected back to us by the mirrorized center surface of a CD. Here the diffraction and transmission also takes place because diffraction of light rays occur when it strikes the surface of CD and transmission is obvious when light enters from one medium to another. The thickness of the different optical media, angle of source light, and brightness of source light all affect which rainbow patterns are visible on a CD.

  3. exam should be renamed as general knowledge instead of general studies.
seems paper was set in a hurry, copy pasting directly from hindu, tata gs manual, census 2011, jag balokhra
dis is the reason induction rate in upsc from our state is low
our aspirants indulge in static study(more u study more are chances irrespective of quality maintained during prep) instead of dynamic study which is the need of the hour in today's tech- savy world(if u wanna crack upsc)

    1. Exactly that's the way it should be. HPPSC simply copy and paste questions from various resources and focus remains on factual parts. They need to bring a change in the pattern and upsc type pattern is better and tests the depth in GS rather than cramming the facts.

  4. One of the following polymers used for bullet proof materials? As u have mentioned it is polycarbonates....but in hpas 2000 ques. No. 119 it is polyamide...and I have searched for this it is polyamide...how u r saying it is polycarbonate...justify and why hpas is giving two answers on same question...?

    1. Question asks which of the Polymer is WIDELY used for making Bullet Proof materials, I have already Given the explanation at the end of all the Questions, do check it again, I also researched on it and then I reached on this conclusion, You are also right Polyamides are also used for making bullet proof materials but word WIDELY here means mostly used material, So on the larger scenario Polycarbonates are widely or mostly used for making bullet proof materials.

Rhi baat HPPSC ke 2 answers ki to buddy they don't even remember ke questions set kerte time unhone kahan se copy paste kare ye sab questions aur aur ab unko sahi answers mil nhi rhai to kuch bhi dal rhai hain answer keys mai, unko khak pta hai kuch ki kon sa answer sahi hai ya nhi, all in all they have given wrong answers of at least 20 questions in the answers keys of both the papers, copy paste bhi theek se mar saktey ye log yar aur kya expect kr saktey hain inse. Ab in becharon ka level isse niche nhi gir sakta. :D
