[NT Exam Review] HPPSC NT Prelims Exam 2014 Review held on 23rd November

HPPSC conducted NT Prelims Exam on 23rd November at the various Centres in Himachal Pradesh. Approximately 19000 Aspirants were issued Roll Numbers. This year NT Prelims Exam was Easier than the previous Year as there were some direct easy questions, although they maintained their level of toughness this year too. So overall the Exam was moderate, But due to lesser Number of seats and some direct questions Cut off may increase this year. Questions were asked form various sections But there were some sections that dominated most like Himachal GK, Indian National Movement etc. Here is the distribution of Questions section wise:

Sections Like Himachal Pradesh GK, Ancient + Culture + Modern History + Indian National Movement, Geo+ etc Dominated the Paper and As always HPPSC's NT paper mainly asks history part more so those who have better preparation in this part will do better than others. There were very less questions from Science and Sports sections this year. Apart from that this year they asked more factual based questions than previous year. Overall paper was Moderate and tricky, for the First timers it may be a kind of shocking experience but for the experienced players it was Easier and satisfying. 

How Many Will Qualify for Mains:

Total Vacancies : 09 x 20 times = 180 Total Candidates

General Category : 04 x 20 = 80 Candidates

SC Category : 01 x 20 = 20 Candidates

ST Category : 02 x 20 = 40 Candidates

OBC Category : 01 x 20  = 20 Candidates

Ex Servicemen of HP : 01 x 20 = 20 Candidates


Why Cut off Will Increase This Year :

There are two reasons of increasing Cut off this year :

1. Lesser Number of Seats
2. Some Direct Easy questions, some factual based questions, Overall Exam this year was Easier than last year.

So these are the factors behind the increase in the Cut off.

Possible Cut off Scenario :

General Category : 75-85
ST Category : 60-65
SC Category : 70-75
OBC Category : 70-75
Ex Serviceman: 60-65


Although Cut off can Go higher or lower than this analysis, but relatively this year cut off will rise by 8-10 marks in each category. This is not my personal thought but I asked many candidates (Specially Senior Players) and came to the conclusion that cut off will definitely rise. But No need to panic about the cut offs now, this exam is over, So concentrate on the Next Exams.
